4 Days / 3 Nights — Spice Island Paradise

Your 4-Day Zanzibar Journey

Day 1

Arrival in Paradise

Depart from your safari base in Arusha or Dar es Salaam and take a scenic flight to Zanzibar, the legendary Spice Island. Upon arrival at Stone Town Airport, our representative greets you and arranges your transfer to your beachfront resort. The Indian Ocean stretches before you in shades of turquoise and azure, a breathtaking contrast to the savannah you've just left behind. Settle into your room, refresh yourself, and join us for a sunset walk along the pristine beach. As the sun descends into the ocean, painting the sky in amber and coral, you'll feel the stress of the safari melt away. Tonight, we'll dine on fresh seafood at your resort, where the sound of the waves provides the perfect soundtrack.

Day 2

Stone Town Historical Exploration

This morning, we journey into Stone Town, Zanzibar's UNESCO World Heritage heart. Declared a World Heritage Site in 2000, this ancient coastal city is a living museum of Swahili culture, Islamic architecture, and mercantile history spanning centuries. Narrow cobblestone streets wind between coral stone buildings with intricately carved wooden doors, each one a masterpiece of Zanzibari craftsmanship. We explore the House of Wonders (Beit al-Ajaib), the tallest building in sub-Saharan Africa when constructed, with its commanding views over the waterfront. At the Zanzibar Spice Tours, we visit the historic spice markets where cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, and nutmeg trade hands as they have for generations — Zanzibar produces over 90% of the world's cloves. We visit a poignant memorial dedicated to the slave trade, acknowledging the island's complex history. Throughout the day, your senses are awakened by the aromas of spices, the calls of merchants, and the essence of Swahili culture. We conclude with a traditional Zanzibari dinner featuring local specialities like urojo (street food), fresh fish, and spiced coconut rice.

Day 3

Water Paradise & Freedom

Today is yours to shape. Zanzibar offers several magnificent options. For the adventurous, we offer a guided snorkelling and diving expedition to Mnemba Atoll, a coral island sanctuary off Zanzibar's northeast coast. The waters here teem with life: tropical fish in kaleidoscopic colours, sea turtles gliding gracefully through the currents, and if you're fortunate, visiting dolphins. The coral gardens are pristine and vibrant, home to species found nowhere else on Earth. Professional diving instructors can take certified divers to depths where the underwater landscape becomes even more spectacular. Alternatively, experience the romance of traditional Zanzibari travel aboard a dhow sailing vessel — the same wooden boats that have plied these waters for centuries. Feel the wind fill the sail as you drift across crystalline waters, stopping to swim in secluded lagoons and enjoy a seafood lunch aboard. For those seeking pure relaxation, your beachfront resort offers world-class amenities: spa treatments using coconut and spice-infused oils, infinity pools overlooking the ocean, and pristine private beach access. Choose your adventure, or split your day between activities and rest.

Day 4

Spice Plantation & Departure

On your final morning, we visit a working spice plantation nestled in Zanzibar's lush interior. These verdant farms showcase the cultivation of the crops that made Zanzibar famous globally. Walk among clove trees heavy with aromatic buds, pass under nutmeg canopies, and learn how these precious spices are harvested, dried, and prepared for export. Your guide, often a plantation worker or family member, shares stories passed down through generations about the island's agricultural heritage. You'll taste fresh spices and fruits straight from the trees — some you'll recognize, others entirely new to your palate. This intimate experience connects you to the island's soul in a way no market visit can replicate. Afterwards, we transfer you to the airport for your departure flight, carrying with you memories of turquoise waters, fragrant spice gardens, and the warm hospitality of Zanzibar's people.

Common Questions

How long should I spend in Zanzibar?

Three to five nights is typical after a mainland safari. Shorter stays feel rushed; longer stays work well for honeymooners or anyone wanting to dive, snorkel and fully unwind.

Can I fly directly from the Serengeti to Zanzibar?

Yes. Daily light-aircraft flights connect Serengeti airstrips, Arusha and Zanzibar, making a safari-beach combination seamless.

When is the best time for Zanzibar?

June-October and December-February are the driest and warmest months with the best beach weather. Avoid the long rains (April-May) if possible. The shoulder months can offer great value.

Is Zanzibar safe?

Zanzibar is generally very safe for tourists. As with any destination, common-sense precautions apply in Stone Town after dark. Our lodges and transfers use vetted operators.

What is there to do in Zanzibar besides the beach?

Stone Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), spice tours, dhow cruises, dolphin trips, snorkelling at Mnemba Atoll, diving, and village visits. There's much more than sunbathing if you want it.
